Hello friends -⁠ ⁠ I’ve been delaying this post while hoping for more clarity but it’s time to formally share some important news with our US customers.⁠ ⁠ As of August 29th, the United States is ending what’s called the de minimis exception. Up until now, this rule allowed small shipments (under $800 US in value) to cross the border without extra tariffs or import duties. Once the exception ends, all packages entering the US, regardless of their value, will be subject to new tariffs and fees.⁠ ⁠ I am still researching and exploring options, but to ensure that all current orders arrive safely under the old rules, we will be PAUSING US orders starting August 24th. If you’ve had your eye on a project or have been planning to stock up, I encourage you to place your order by Sunday evening!⁠ ⁠ In the meantime, I will continue working to gather as much information as possible so I can be transparent about the added costs to expect after the 29th. And that’s a wrap on our Portugal trip. Today it’s back to reality - unpacking, laundry, emails, grocery shopping... But in my mind, I’m still on a sunny beach, sipping Porto Tónicos and holding tight to that holiday glow. I didn’t knit a stitch while we were away except to cast on this little ‘Bonnie’ shawl by @lilalu72 in the departure lounge, and then pick it up again on the flight home. I’m making a light, fluffy version with HAZE held double in ‘Afterglow’ and ‘Chateau.’ I hadn’t planned it, but it’s giving total Canada vibes… and I’m okay with that 😊. -fr- Voilà pour notre voyage au Portugal. Aujourd’hui, retour à la réalité : déballage, lessive, e-mails, courses… Mais dans ma tête, je suis toujours sur une plage ensoleillée, à siroter des Porto Tónicos, agrippée à mon teint de vacances. Je n’ai pas tricoté une seule maille pendant notre voyage, si ce n’est pour monter ce petit châle « Bonnie » de @lilalu72 dans la salle d’embarquement, que je reprends sur le vol retour. J’en fais une version légère et moelleuse avec du HAZE, tricoté en double dans les teintes « Afterglow » et « Chateau ». Rented a car yesterday and headed straight to the beach to dip our toes in the Atlantic 🏖️. It was early in the day and a bit cool and overcast so no swimming for us but it was a relaxing pitstop on our way to explore Guimarães - known as the “birthplace of Portugal,” where the cobbled streets wind past medieval squares, 10th-century castle walls, and the stately Palace of the Dukes 🏰. We ended the day in “Largo da Oliveira” (Olive Tree Square) in the historic center, before heading back to Porto ✨. (Thank you for indulging me in my little travel reels 🙏. Day 3 in Porto - at the risk of being repetitive, another slow start to a beautiful day with zero plan. We wandered, we ate when and if we felt like it, indulged in more pineapple smoothies (addictive!), climbed endless stairs, drank port wine at a traditional Fado concert, took a little boat cruise on the Douro, had a very late dinner and then enjoyed free music and dance (Mexican!) riverside before heading back to the hotel. Tomorrow will be another very chill day before we rent a car and head out on several day trips we’ve been looking forward to ✨. Porto – Day 1 and we’re in love❤️. First impressions are of a beautiful, walkable city with layers of history, a strong sense of place, and plenty of wine to “taste.” Feels like a place that reveals itself slowly, but generously and we are looking forward to soaking it all in while proritizing some serious R&R ✨.
