Astera by Inese Sang (Haven + Halo)
- Description
The ASTERA shawl by Inese Sang shawl draws its initial inspiration from the bold, geometric beauty found in the layered petals of zinnias - members of the Asteraceae flower family. Each layer builds quietly upon the next, creating depth through repetition rather than excess. The gentle curves suggested by the “petals” are balanced by an underlying structure of mitered squares, giving the shawl a sense of calm symmetry and restrained elegance.
The design is knit holding our Haven laceweight yarn together with Halo, our silk and mohair laceweight. Haven is worked in a single, steady base colour, while three different Halo colours are alternated throughout the project, adding subtle shifts in light and tone that echo the layered floral inspiration. The shawl can also be worked in a single strand of fingering-weight yarn, as Inese did with our Fleece & Flax yarn - a soft and rustic blend of Bluefaced Leicester and linen. See kits for the Fleece & Flax version HERE.
