Musselburgh Hat by Ysolda Teague (Halo version)
- Description
The Musselburgh Hat by Ysolda Teague is the kind of project you just want to make on repeat. We’ve already fallen hard for versions using our Sunday Morning 4 Ply paired with Halo (see them here), but lately, we’re enamoured with this ultra-light and cozy take—knit entirely in Halo (mohair + silk).
This ingenious double-layered beanie begins with a center-out cast-on, shaping the first crown. From there, it’s a meditative stretch of stockinette in the round, finishing with mirrored decreases for the second crown. You then simply tuck one half of the hat inside the other. If you're an adventurous beginner looking to grow your skills this pattern offers a great way to learn how to knit a hat from the top-down: clear directions and linked tutorials are included.
For our Halo-only version, we used Halo held double on 4 mm (US6) needles, achieving a 20 st/4” gauge. We knit to the halfway point with two strands of one colour, then switched to two strands of a second colour for the rest. The result? A completely reversible hat with two colour options to match your mood and outfit.
